Understanding The Difference Between Energy Healing Modalities For Pets

Posted on: 21 January 2016

If you're thinking of taking your pet to an energy healer, you might be mystified by how many different terms are out there. Energy healers may state that they use Reiki, Healing Touch, or even use crystals and stones to promote healing in your pet. If you're wondering what the difference is between these methods, read on.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing modality that was invented in 1922 by Mikao Usui. Reiki healers believe that they channel Reiki energy from a higher power or universal source into their patient, whether it's a human or a pet.

Reiki is said to have a very calming effect on people and pets, and it can either be performed in-person or from far away. Since the Reiki practitioner isn't personally creating the energy they use, they claim to be able to direct the energy to their target even if they're not physically in their presence. Because of this, a Reiki practitioner can channel energy across a room, or across the world for an ailing pet.

Healing Touch

Healing Touch for Animals is a special form of energy medicine that's been especially developed to help animals to heal and relax. Unlike Reiki, practitioners of Healing Touch for Animals use their own energy in order to heal or soothe a pet. The practice is said to boost a pet's immune system, release endorphins, and generally relax them and promote healing.

Unlike Reiki, Healing Touch for Animals is more specific. Whereas any Reiki practitioner can direct healing energy to pets without pet-specific training, Healing Touch for Animals trains the practitioners in the unique energy fields of each species. Healing Touch for Animals may also make use of external tools, like tuning forks and essential oils.

Crystals

Animal healers that work with crystals or stones generally use the inherent energy of the stone, rather than their own or an external power source. These practitioners believe that stones have inherent qualities that make them ideal energy sources to heal people and pets. For example, bloodstone is said to detoxify the body, and clear quartz can remove energy blockages that prevent healing.

Stones and crystals can be used in addition to one of the above modalities, or by themselves. While healers can't heal a pet from afar with stones, one of the advantages is that pet owners can bring the stones home with them to keep the healing energy close to their pets even after the treatment is complete.

All three of these methods can be beneficial for pets, and none of them have any dangerous or harmful side effects. Ultimately, all three can potentially provide your pet with a healing and energizing experience, so don't hesitate to give them a try.
